Hi, my name is Santi López. I’m founder of Guacamaya Trips. 

I have a background as architect and since 2016 I have been working in the tourism industry around my country, growing in knowledge and experiences that I am craving to share with you.

Despite the fact that Colombia is a country with a history of much violence, the truth is that in recent years terrorism has decreased dramatically. However, it is recommended to be very careful with your belongings, especially when walking around the city. Carry only a copy of your passport, the money you need for your day, and keep your valuables out of sight.

In the main cities of the country, it is. However, the change of water in your body could be reflected in a discomfort. It is suggested to consume filtered water the first few days, preferably to fill your personal container with water from a large bottle, to avoid plastic contamination.

Colombian Peso (COP) is the local currency. Due to a volatile economy, its value compared to other currencies can change overnight. It is recommended to load cash with a low denomination. In stores it is possible to pay by credit card. Pay attention to the denomination of the banknote, there are similar references but with very different values.
